뉴욕의 대표적인 한인 슈퍼마켓에서 총격사건이 벌어져 두명의 한인 사상자(死傷者)가 발생해 한인사회에 큰 충격을 주고 있다.
16일 밤 퀸즈 플러싱의 한양마트 매장 주차장에서 한인과 중국인으로 추정되는 남성들 사이에 총격전이 벌어져 1명이 숨지고 1명이 중태에 빠지는 사건이 발생했다.
경찰에 따르면 이날 오후 10시반경 20대 남성 다섯명이 두 대의 승용차를 나눠 타고 노던블러바드 150가에 위치한 한양마트 주차장에 들어와 007서류가방 한 개를 놓고 다툼을 벌이다 한 남성이 상대에게 총을 쏘고 달아났다.
목격자들에 따르면 총격을 가한 남성은 한 동승자와 함께 도요타 캠리 승용차를 타고 다른 세명이 타고 온 차량을 쫒아 들어와 문제의 007 가방을 빼앗기 위해 심한 몸싸움을 벌였다. 이 과정에서 20대 중국계로 추정되는 한 남성이 총을 꺼내 상대 차량에 타고 있던 두 사람에게 총격을 가했다.
총격을 가한 남성 등 2명은 타고 온 캠리승용차에 올라타 도주하려다 주차장에 있던 미니밴과 충돌해 차가 움직이지 않자 한양마트 주차장 뒷문쪽으로 가방을 들고 달아났다.
총상을 입은 한인 남성들은 인근 병원으로 이송(移送)됐으나 한명은 숨지고 또다른 한명은 생명이 위독한 것으로 알려졌다. 범행 직후 신고를 받고 출동한 경찰은 도주한 범인 검거를 위해 목격자의 진술을 토대로 몽타주를 작성하는 등 인근 지역을 수색하고 있다.

Shocking shootout at the Korean supermarket in New York.
One died and another severely damaged in the shootout by the parking lot of New York's leading Korean supermarket has shocked the community.
On the 16th night, estimated groups of Koreans and Chinese had their gun fired on one another by the parking lot of Hanyang Mart in Flushing.
According to police, five men in 20s came into the parking area in two vehicles around 10 pm. It was then; two groups of people fought for a briefcase and one of them shot the gun at the opponent.
They got in their Toyota Camry attempting to escape but blocked when they crashed into a minivan. They left their vehicle and fled towards the backdoor of the market with the briefcase in their possession.
Two wounded Korean men were sent to the hospital however, one person was killed and another is said to be critical.
